The anime style
Cel-shaded skies, hard-edged light, saturated gradients. The look most roleplay servers aimed at a younger audience ask for.
Anime plates trade depth for legibility, and at small sizes that trade pays. Hard-edged shapes and high-chroma gradients survive a 468x60 crop and a 300x300 downscale far better than a photographic scene does, because there is no fine detail to lose.
They are also the most distinctive in a server browser full of dark photographic strips. That is the point and the risk: a server that goes anime is making a claim about its audience, and the branding will read as that claim whether or not the roleplay matches it.
The one technical note: cel shading produces large flat areas and hard edges, which is the worst case for GIF dithering. The animated exports use a tighter palette and gentler dither for anime plates to stop banding appearing across the sky.
The parking meet scene
A multi-storey at night, sodium light, concrete and empty bays.
Hard artificial light and a lot of flat concrete, which gives a very clean surface for lettering and almost no competing detail. The strongest family for a wordmark-led identity, and the obvious one for car-meet, drift and tuning servers. Low saturation by default, so the accent reads as the only colour in the frame.
The same scene is also drawn in grunge, painted and photoreal.
Teal as a server colour
The quietest of the cool accents, and the one that holds up over desaturated plates.
Teal sits between the blue that reads as institutional and the green that reads as toxic, which makes it the safe accent for a desaturated or fog-heavy scene where a loud hue would be the only thing in the frame. It is also the hardest to make visible at small sizes, so these designs run it at a higher saturation than the plate suggests.
