The FiveM scripts every server actually runs

The short answer

A FiveM server needs a manager (txAdmin, already bundled), a database wrapper (oxmysql), a framework if it is roleplay (QBCore, ESX or Qbox), a shared library (ox_lib), an inventory, a targeting resource and a voice resource. Everything else is content on top of that.

33 resources, what each one is for, how to install it, where its real documentation lives, and the mistake people make with it. We build maps for these servers, so we run this stack ourselves. Repository figures were read on 2026-09-22; the documentation links go to each project’s own site, not to a copy of it.

The 2026 starting stack

If you are building a roleplay server today and do not want to spend a week comparing options, this is the combination the rest of the ecosystem assumes you are running. Each row links to the full write-up.

RoleWhat to runWhy
Server managertxAdminBundled with the artifacts. Recipes, restarts, bans, console.
DatabaseoxmysqlPrepared statements by default, with a shim for old mysql-async scripts.

Search by name, by category or by what you are trying to do. Write-ups marked with another domain live on one of our sister sites — the weapons shop covers inventories and frameworks, the loading screen builder covers server infrastructure and NUI — because each one is written by the people who work with that half every day.

Questions people ask before picking a stack

What scripts does every FiveM server need?
A server manager (txAdmin, which is bundled), a database wrapper (oxmysql), a framework if it is a roleplay server (QBCore, ESX or Qbox), a shared library (ox_lib), an inventory (ox_inventory), a targeting system (ox_target) and a voice resource (pma-voice). Everything else is content on top of that.
Which FiveM framework is the most used in 2026?
QBCore has the most new servers and the largest modern script catalogue, largely because the txAdmin recipe installs a playable server in minutes. ESX still runs an enormous installed base and has the deepest back catalogue of free scripts. Qbox is a maintained QBCore fork with stricter releases, and ox_core is the small, strict option.
Do these scripts work with a custom minimap?
All of them. A minimap resource replaces streamed textures and nothing else — no events, no exports, no framework calls. Blips, zones, targets and HUDs all carry on unchanged, which is why a map swap is one of the safest things you can do to a live server.
What is the difference between ox_lib and PolyZone?
ox_lib's zones module and PolyZone solve the same problem — is the player inside this shape — and ox_lib is the one to use in new code. PolyZone stays installed on most servers because older resources import its files directly.
How do I know which version of a resource I am running?
Most of these publish tagged releases on GitHub, and the version is in fxmanifest.lua. The figures on this page were read from each project on 2026-09-22; always check the repository before assuming a feature exists in your copy.
Can I run two inventories or two targeting systems at once?
No. Two inventories fight over the same item events and two targeting systems give the player two overlapping eyes. Pick one of each, and stop the other in server.cfg rather than deleting it so you can go back.

None of this changes the map

Every resource on this page leaves the minimap alone — they draw blips on it, they never replace it. The picture underneath is a streamed texture, and it is the one part of the screen that is entirely yours.
