HOW IT WORKS

Playing a scene, start to finish

Four steps. Three of the four things that usually go wrong are in step two.

  1. 01 Find the name

Search by scene name or by mission strand. Every name on this page is the exact string RequestCutscene expects.

  2. 02 Request and wait

RequestCutscene(name, 8), then loop on HasCutsceneLoaded() until it returns true. Skipping the wait is the single most common reason a scene does not play.

  3. 03 Register your entities

If the scene has a slot for a character you want to replace, call RegisterEntityForCutscene before StartCutscene.

  4. 04 Start and clean up

StartCutscene(0), wait for IsCutsceneActive() to go false, then RemoveCutscene() so the next one can load.

READING A NAME

What the suffixes tell you

These are conventions rather than flags, and the counts are taken from the list itself.

ConventionNames carrying itWhat it usually marks
mission segment220One numbered piece of a mission’s cutscene run.
interior203The version of the beat played inside a building.
exterior98The version played outdoors, often the same dialogue.
part97A numbered part where a scene was split.
concatenated34Several segments joined so they play as one scene.
take16A numbered take of the same shot.
alternate take5A variant kept alongside the main one.

QUESTIONS

About cutscenes in FiveM

How do I play a cutscene in FiveM?
Request it by name, wait for HasCutsceneLoaded to come back true, then call StartCutscene. The scene plays on the client that started it. Always call RemoveCutscene once IsCutsceneActive goes false, or the next request on that client will fail to load.
Why does nothing happen when I start one?
Three usual causes. The name is wrong — they are case-insensitive but every character has to be right, which is why this list exists. The scene never finished loading, because the code called StartCutscene in the same frame as RequestCutscene instead of waiting. Or the scene needs an entity registered, such as the lead ped, and without it the camera plays to an empty set.
What do the suffixes mean?
They are naming conventions rather than flags, and they repeat often enough across the 772 names to be worth knowing: mission segment (220), interior (203), exterior (98), part (97), concatenated (34), take (16), alternate take (5). A name ending _mcs_1 is the first segment of a mission's cutscene, _int and _ext are the interior and exterior versions of the same beat, and _concat is several segments joined into one scene.
Can I use my own ped in a cutscene?
Yes, where the scene has a slot for one. RegisterEntityForCutscene swaps your ped in for a named character before StartCutscene — the snippet on each scene page shows the shape. Scenes built around a specific character model will still look wrong with a freemode ped, so test before you ship.
Do cutscenes work in multiplayer?
They play locally, on the client that requests them. Everybody else sees your ped standing still, so a scene that should be shared has to be requested on every client that is meant to watch it — and anything that happens during it has to be synced by your own script.
Where does this list come from?
The publicly published GTA V data dumps, the same source behind this site’s prop, ped and vehicle references. The names are deduplicated and sorted; nothing is invented, and a scene that is not in the game is not in this list.
