FiveM for GTA V Enhanced: what actually changes
Enhanced is a separate FiveM build for the Gen9 release of GTA V. It streams from a stream_enhanced folder in preference to stream, has no asset escrow, keeps pure mode permanently on, supports only the newest gamebuild, and runs OneSync in big mode only. Legacy is unchanged and is still what most servers run.
FiveM for GTA V Enhanced went to open early access in July 2026, and it is not the same platform with a new coat of paint. A handful of things a server depends on behave differently or are simply not there, and most of them are the kind you find out about from a player rather than from a changelog.

#Streaming: stream_enhanced takes over from stream
A resource may now carry a stream_enhanced folder beside its stream folder. On Enhanced, if stream_enhanced is present its contents are loaded instead of stream. If it is absent, stream is used as before. The documented purpose is to let one resource ship Gen8 assets in stream and Gen9 assets in stream_enhanced and stay compatible with both.
That is also why copying your stream folder to stream_enhanced is not automatically an improvement. If the assets are identical it changes nothing and doubles the download; it is only worth doing when the Gen9 asset genuinely differs. Test on an Enhanced client before you ship either way.
stream on its own still works. It is marked deprecated, so it is a thing to keep an eye on rather than a thing that is broken today.
#Asset escrow does not exist on Enhanced
Escrow is listed as not implemented. A resource protected through the Cfx.re asset escrow system has nothing to decrypt it with on an Enhanced server, so anything you bought that ships escrowed is Legacy-only until that changes.
This cuts the other way too, and it is worth knowing before you buy: an unescrowed resource — plain files you can open and edit — is the only kind that is portable across both. Our own minimaps ship as ordinary .ytd and .ydd files with no escrow and no FXAP, which is a licensing decision rather than an Enhanced one, but it is the reason they are not blocked by this.
#Pure mode is always on
On Legacy, sv_pureLevel is a choice: 0 off, 1 blocks modified client files that the server did not send, 2 goes further. On Enhanced, pure mode is always enabled and cannot be turned off, and while Enhanced is in early access graphic mods cannot be used at all.
Practically: if part of your community runs a graphics mod, they cannot run it on your Enhanced server. That is a community question, not a configuration one.
#One gamebuild, and it is already the newest
Enhanced supports only the latest gamebuild, and loads it by default with no sv_enforceGameBuild line needed. The one other value that does something is sv_enforceGameBuild 1, which loads the base game with no DLC at all.
Everything written about picking a build — pinning 2699 because a resource needs it, staying on 3095 because a map breaks above it — is Legacy advice. On Enhanced there is nothing to pin to.
#OneSync: big mode only
Non-big OneSync is gone. Big mode is the only mode, and the difference you will notice is event scoping: in big mode a player connect or disconnect event only reaches a client when that player is in range, where previously it arrived regardless of where either of them was.
Any script that counted on hearing about every player everywhere — a join announcement, a live player list built from events — needs a server-side source instead.
#Convars that stopped doing anything
| Convar | What happens now |
|---|---|
onesync_enableBeyond | Does nothing. |
sv_enhancedHostSupport | Not used any more. |
sv_protectServerEntities | Not implemented — use sv_entityLockdown. |
onesync_automaticResend | Removed entirely. |
sv_netHttp2 | HTTP/2 support removed. |
sv_useAccurateSends | Deprecated in favour of sv_syncTickRate. |
Kept for backward compatibility, with no effect on Enhanced.
None of these throw an error, which is the awkward part: the line sits in your server.cfg looking like it is doing something. If you are writing a config meant to run on both, keep them for Legacy and do not expect them to matter on Enhanced.
#The server files are named differently
- Windows: the archive is
cfx-server_win_x64and the executable iscfx-server.exe, notFXServer.exe. - Linux: the archive is
cfx-server-linux_x64. - Pick Enhanced rather than Legacy on the Cfx.re Server Download page; the platform selector is what decides which you get.
The setup is otherwise the same as a Legacy server: same folder layout, same server.cfg, same licence key from the Cfx.re Portal, same port 30120 on TCP and UDP.
#What this means for a custom minimap
A minimap replacement is a set of texture dictionaries and drawable dictionaries streamed under the names the game already uses. Nothing about that mechanism was removed on Enhanced, and because our maps carry no escrow there is nothing to be blocked by the missing escrow system.
