Desync, rubber-banding and network issues in FiveM
If everyone rubber-bands at the same moment, the server thread is hitching — profile it. If one player jumps around, it is their connection or their PC. If players see different things (doors, props, vehicle mods), a script changed state on one client only — sync it through the server, state bags or network-owned entities. Vehicles and peds also misbehave when ownership migrates between players with poor connections.
“Desync” covers a family of problems: players snapping back, cars jumping, someone seeing a door open while others see it closed. Some come from the server, some from individual connections, and some from scripts that change things only on one client. Sorting out which is which is most of the fix.

#Which desync is it?
| Symptom | Likely cause | Look at |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone snaps back at once | Server thread hitch | Console hitch warnings, profiler |
| One player teleporting | Their connection or FPS | Their ping and packet loss |
| Doors/props differ between players | Client-only script changes | How the script syncs state |
| Cars jumping after someone leaves | Ownership migration | Who owns the entity |
#Server hitches
A blocked server thread delays updates for everyone. The console prints hitch warnings; fix the resource responsible — see hitch warnings and server performance.
#State that is not synced
A script that locks a door with a client native only locks it for that player. Anything others must see needs to go through the server: events to all clients, state bags, or server-side natives on networked entities. The concepts are in entity ownership and network IDs and state bags; for doors, use a proper door lock resource — see door locks.
#Ownership and migration
Each networked entity is simulated by one owning client. When that player has high ping or leaves the area, ownership moves to someone else and the entity can jump. Server-created entities and sensible cleanup reduce the problem — see OneSync and entity limits.
#Individual players
- Wired connection instead of Wi-Fi.
- Close downloads and streaming uploads while playing.
- Very low FPS also looks like desync to others.
- A server far away means high ping — hosting location matters.
