# Setting up txAdmin for a FiveM server

> Set up txAdmin, the panel built into FiveM artifacts: first run and the PIN, linking Cfx.re, deploying a recipe, the live console, restarts, players and bans.

**Short answer.** Run the server artifacts without a server.cfg and txAdmin starts on port 40120. Open it in a browser, enter the PIN printed in the console, log in with your Cfx.re account to create the master admin, then either deploy a recipe (a ready-made server) or point txAdmin at your existing server data folder. From then on you manage the server — console, restarts, players, bans — from the web panel.

## Key points

- txAdmin is built into the server artifacts; no separate install.
- Default web port: **40120**. The first-run PIN is printed in the server console.
- The first account (master) is linked to your Cfx.re login.
- Recipes deploy a complete server; or use an existing server data folder.
- Scheduled restarts, bans and the in-game menu are built in.

txAdmin ships inside every FiveM server download. It starts, stops and watches your server, restarts it on a schedule, keeps a player database with bans and warnings, and gives staff an in-game menu. For most server owners it is the control room — so setting it up properly on day one saves a lot of pain.

## First run

1. Download the latest recommended server artifacts for your OS and extract them — see [artifacts and updates](https://fam-tools.com/guides/fivem-artifacts-and-updates).
2. Start the server (`FXServer.exe` on Windows, `./run.sh` on Linux) **without** pointing it at a server.cfg.
3. The console prints a txAdmin address (port 40120) and a 4-digit PIN.
4. Open the address in a browser, enter the PIN and log in with your Cfx.re account.
5. Set a backup password for the master account.

> **Port 40120 and the internet** — The txAdmin panel is a login page for your whole server. Keep the master password strong, and consider restricting port 40120 in the firewall to your own IP — see [ports and firewall](https://fam-tools.com/guides/fivem-server-ports-firewall).

## Recipe or existing server

| Option | What it does | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Popular recipes | Downloads a ready framework server (QBCore, Qbox, ESX…) with a database | A fresh start |
| Remote URL template | Deploys a recipe from a URL | Custom team templates |
| Existing server data | Points txAdmin at your folder with server.cfg | Migrating an existing server |

A recipe asks for your licence key and database details and writes the server.cfg for you. Keys are covered in [the licence key guide](https://fam-tools.com/guides/fivem-license-key-keymaster), databases in [MariaDB setup](https://fam-tools.com/guides/fivem-mariadb-database-setup).

## What you use every day

| Page | For |
| --- | --- |
| Live Console | Server output and commands (`ensure`, `refresh`, `restart`) |
| Players | Online players, history, warnings, bans, notes |
| Resources | Starting and stopping resources |
| CFG Editor | Editing server.cfg in the browser |
| Settings → Restarter | Scheduled restarts and crash recovery |
| Admin Manager | Staff accounts and permissions |

## Scheduled restarts

Long-running servers accumulate entities and memory; most roleplay servers restart every 6–12 hours at fixed times. txAdmin warns players before each restart and restarts automatically after a crash. Timing and messaging are covered in [scheduled restarts](https://fam-tools.com/guides/fivem-scheduled-restarts).

## The in-game menu

Staff with the right permissions can open txAdmin’s in-game menu (the `/tx` command) for noclip, teleport, spectate, heal and player actions, all logged in txAdmin. Permissions decide who sees which options — see [txAdmin admins and permissions](https://fam-tools.com/guides/txadmin-admins-permissions).

## Questions

### How do I open txAdmin?

Start the server artifacts and open the address printed in the console — port 40120 by default — in a browser.

### Where do I find the txAdmin PIN?

It is printed in the server console on the first run, before a master account exists.

### Do I need to install txAdmin separately?

No. It is included in the FiveM server artifacts.

### Can I use txAdmin with an existing server?

Yes. Choose the existing server data option and point it at the folder containing your server.cfg.

### How do I open the in-game txAdmin menu?

Type `/tx` in game with an account that has menu permissions.
