**Short answer.** GTA 6 ships 19 November 2026 on console only. FiveM is a Windows client, so nothing about your server changes on that date, and GTA V servers will run for years after it.

There is a date now, so the question has changed. It is no longer whether a new Grand Theft Auto is coming but what the 19 November 2026 launch actually does to a GTA V roleplay server, and the answer is less dramatic than either of the usual takes.

## What we actually know

- Rockstar has confirmed 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The date survived two earlier slips — out of the original 2025 window, then out of 26 May 2026 — and was reaffirmed through October 2026.
- There is no announced PC release. Reports have pointed at 2027 and Take-Two has said PC matters more to the company over time, but Rockstar has dated nothing.
- FiveM runs on Windows and attaches to a PC copy of the game. Until a PC version of GTA 6 exists there is nothing for a platform like FiveM to attach to, so the launch date is not a date for your server.
- A new game does not end the previous one. GTA IV multiplayer communities outlived the release of GTA V by years, and GTA V had a far larger modding ecosystem to carry forward.
- A modding platform for a new title takes time. The tooling, the file formats and the anti-tamper situation all have to be worked out before anything like FiveM exists for it.
- Server communities do not migrate instantly. Whitelists, custom scripts, characters and economies are years of accumulated work that does not port.

> **note** — The dates above are Rockstar’s own announcements, checked on 15 October 2026. Anything about a PC version, about Cfx.re or about modding GTA 6 is unannounced — treat any date you are given for those as a guess.

## What carries over and what does not

A minimap is squarely in the last row, and that is the honest framing: it is an asset for the server you run today, priced accordingly.

| Asset | Carries over? |
| --- | --- |
| Your community and staff | Entirely |
| Rules, lore, factions | Entirely |
| Branding and identity | Entirely |
| Server-side logic and economy design | The design does, the code does not |
| Lua scripts | No — different runtime, different natives |
| Map and texture assets | No — a different island |

## The practical answer

If your server is live and has players, the map they look at every session is worth $8. If your server is an idea rather than a community, spend the effort on the community first — a beautiful map on an empty server is still an empty server.

> **What we will do** — The renderer is not tied to San Andreas. It takes a source map apart into semantic layers and recolours them, so when there is a new island and a platform to run it on, the same twelve palettes can be produced for it. Existing customers get the same licence terms.

## Questions

### When does GTA 6 come out?

19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. There is no announced PC date. Reports have pointed at 2027 but Rockstar has confirmed nothing, and until a PC version ships the launch has no direct effect on a FiveM server.

### Will FiveM work with GTA 6?

Not at launch, and not while the game is console-only. FiveM is a Windows client that attaches to a PC copy of the game, and no PC version of GTA 6 has been announced. Even after one ships, a platform for a new title is a large amount of work, and neither Cfx.re nor Rockstar has said anything about it.

### Should I wait before buying a minimap?

Only if your server is not live. If it is, the map is being looked at every session today.

### Will you make GTA 6 minimaps?

If there is a platform to run them on, yes. The pipeline is source-agnostic — it works from a base map and elevation data, not from anything specific to San Andreas.
